Messner Mountain Museum CORONES & RIPA

How man conquered the mountain

History of alpinism & mountain peoples from all over the world

Reinhold Messner has chosen spectacular locations and premises for the opening of his two of six museums: a new building designed by Zaha Hadid on the panoramic Plan de Corones/Kronplatz and the historic walls of Brunico/Bruneck Castle. While the exhibition centre at Plan de Corones/Kronplatz focuses on traditional alpinism, which was decisively shaped by Reinhold Messner, the museum in the castle is dedicated to mountain peoples from Asia, Africa, South America and Europe. Art objects, replicas of settlements, photographs, films and original everyday objects bring them to life.
