Monguelfo/Welsberg

Welcome to the urban centre

Steeped in history & bustling

Monguelfo/Welsberg, which is the liveliest town in the holiday region thanks to its central location on the main axis of the Pustertal Valley. It is also the best situated for exploring the surrounding area, such as Brunico/Bruneck, San Candido/Innichen, the Three Peaks or Lago di Braies/Pragser Wildsee lake. Monguelfo/Welsberg is the birthplace of the famous baroque painter Paul Troger, where four of his works can still be seen today. Monguelfo/Welsberg with its many shopping opportunities, the idyllic Prenninger Park, which was once built for the visit of the Austrian Emperor during the construction of the railway. And finally Monguelfo/Welsberg with its over 800-year-old Welsperg Castle, whose history began with one of the most important aristocratic families in Tyrol - the Guelphs.
