Tures/Taufers Castle

Visit to a former dynastic castle

Impressive gateway to the Valle Aurina/Ahrntal Valley

Even from a distance, visitors can tell from its size that there is a lot to see and discover at Tures/Taufers Castle. An imposing gateway with a former drawbridge leads to the castle garden with a large inner courtyard, smithy and ice cellar. The battlements and the attic of the former palace (‘Kasten’) are also open to visitors. A documentary film about the castle is shown in the keep. If you book a guided tour, you can visit over 20 showrooms in the castle - including the courtroom, the library, the chapel, the knights' hall, the infirmary, the late Gothic parlour, the ghost room, the armoury, the cardinal's room and the other guest rooms. The dungeon and the torture chamber are particularly impressive.
