LOCATION House VITUS is located 1600 m above sea level overlooking S. Maddalena at the valley head of Gsies/Casies Valley. Its high position on the hillside makes it possible to enjoy a beautiful view to the northern Dolomites. It is also an excellent starting point for hikes, mountain hikes and ski touring.

You will be able to enjoy a view over the valley head of S. Maddalena, the peaks framing Val Casies/Gsiesertal Valley as well as the Dolomites of Prags/Braies Valley.

ARCHITECTUAL STYLE
The house was actually built twice. The original farmhouse building - called Veidler - was erected between 1533 and 1536. Over 500 years later a “rescue campaign” was needed to safe the structure. In 2012 the house was rebuild for a second time using a local technic. It is a log house with squared timbers and simple saddle notches using the original house’s timber above a new, masoned basement floor.

The old granary was converted into a master bedroom with a generous bathroom. Its traditional simple panelling dates back to the 19th century and is made out of spruce. The extraordinary feature of the room is the wooden floor made out of Swiss stone pine. The balcony is accessible via a hallway-door. This room can also be rented in addition to any of the other apartments.
